RailMind RailMind

One engine, several applications.

The same engine runs in each. Machine health and structural health are open for pilots today, vision is in development, and the engine can go inside the devices others make. In every application, each machine, structure or camera view is a little different.

INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT · Predictive maintenance (PdM) · PILOTS OPEN

For plant and maintenance teams.

Edge Node on the bearing housing of an industrial fan

Rotating machinery

Motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes and compressors.

THE CHALLENGE

Every machine runs a little differently. Labelled fault data is rare, and many sites have no reliable connection.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

A node on each machine learns that machine’s normal behaviour on site and shows when it changes.

Edge Node · Edge Hub

Edge Node on a cooling-water pump in a chemical plant utility area

Chemical plants

Pumps, agitators, compressors and cooling water.

THE CHALLENGE

Many rotating units, strict access, and every unit runs a little differently.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

A node on each machine learns its own normal; a hub brings the site together.

Edge Node · Edge Hub

Edge Node on an extruder gearbox

Plastics production lines

Extruders, injection moulding and conveyors.

THE CHALLENGE

Lines run around the clock, a stop is expensive, and quality is checked by eye or by camera.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

Nodes sit on drives and gearboxes. The same hub can take the line’s inspection cameras (see quality inspection).

INFRASTRUCTURE · Structural health & network monitoring (SHM) · PILOTS OPEN

For owners and operators of structures and networks.

Edge Hub inside a bridge box girder, wired to nodes along the girder

Bridges and slopes

Girders, bearings, piers and monitored slopes.

THE CHALLENGE

Structures move with traffic, temperature and weather. Most of the time nothing is wrong, and sites are remote.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

Each structure gets a model of its own normal response, so changes are read against its own history. A hub on the structure brings every node together in one place.

Road tunnels

Long, linear, hard-to-reach sites.

THE CHALLENGE

Equipment runs unattended and every visit means closing lanes.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

Nodes inside the tunnel are wired to a hub at the portal, which brings them together.

Edge Node · Edge Hub

Edge Node on a manhole wall with a submersible sensor in silty water

Urban drainage networks

Manholes at pipe junctions, where silt builds up and has to be cleared.

THE CHALLENGE

There are thousands of manholes. Desilting runs on a fixed calendar because no one can see inside every one.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

A submersible sensor in the manhole connects to a node; the nodes in an area report to a hub; the hub feeds your monitoring platform — so desilting can be planned by need.

VISION · Video and image analytics on site · IN DEVELOPMENT

For production quality teams and road operators.

Edge Hub taking inspection cameras on a plastics line

Quality inspection on production lines

Inspection cameras over conveyors, extruders and packaging.

THE CHALLENGE

Every line, product and light setting looks a little different. Rules set up on one line rarely carry over, and examples of defects are scarce.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

The cameras on a line plug into a hub, which learns what this line normally looks like and shows when it changes.

Road and traffic video

Roadside and junction cameras.

THE CHALLENGE

Many cameras, each with a different view. Sending and storing all of the video is expensive.

WHAT RAILMIND DOES

A hub in a small cabinet under the cameras takes their feeds on site, so each camera’s scene is learned where it is.
